WHAT: This year marks the 31st annual AIDS Walk Los Angeles, the world’s first AIDS Walk. The event will raise vital funds for APLA and nearly 20 other L.A. County AIDS service organizations.
The Walk continues to keep the public engaged with the HIV/AIDS epidemic through community-driven outreach, a strong social media presence, and, as always, a compelling street campaign.
AIDS Walk Los Angeles is one of the biggest, most diverse, and highly anticipated annual events in Los Angeles. Last year, a passionate crowd of 20,000 walkers and 2,500 volunteers raised more than $2.2 million for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and advocacy programs. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $79 million to fight the disease in Los Angeles County, and the AIDS Walk movement has raised more than a half-billion dollars nationwide.
**New for 2015**
Walkers will experience the Quest Diagnostics Inspiration & Rejuvenation Installation on the route, where they will pass through a 90-foot tunnel with Astroturf, water misters, and informational panels that take walkers through the history of HIV and AIDS.
As walkers return to the venue following their 10-kilometer journey through the streets of West Hollywood and Los Angeles, AIDS Walk Los Angeles will host post-Walk festivities at the West Hollywood Park lawn. Walkers are invited to wind down in the park to the sounds of DJ Drew, appearing courtesy of Time Warner Cable, and partake in Los Angeles food truck favorites CVT Soft Serve and Dogtown Dogs. A portion of food truck proceeds go to AIDS Walk Los Angeles.
