TIM, Living Well, Event
Like many African countries, Malawi has been devastated by AIDS. According to UNAIDS, 14% of the country’s adult population is infected with HIV, and more than half a million children have been orphaned by the disease. Marie DaSilva was touched by this epidemic firsthand, losing 14 family members to the disease. It was this personal loss that helped inspire her in 2002 to start the Jacaranda School in her childhood home. Through her efforts, more than 400 children orphaned by AIDS now receive education, food and medical care, free of charge. The foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charity.
Donations to the Jacaranda Foundation are tax deductible. If you are unable to attend but would like to support the work of the Jacaranda School, visit: www.jacarandafoundation.org
