Klaudia Kovacs is a multi-award winning, Hungarian-American Film and Theater Director who works in Hollywood. At the age of 19, she arrived in the United States alone, not speaking English, and with only $200 in her pocket. Today—after directing Oscar “Best Documentary” competitor and eight-time award winner Torn from the Flag, accepting an invitation to present her film to the United States Congress, and being declared “the most successful Hungarian documentary” by the press—she has 35 awards to show for her hard work.

“MY FATHER BELIZE” FILM TO PREMIERE AT HOLLYSHORTS
HOLLYWOOD – Son of Oakland Productions, 68th & Star Productions, and Luna Ray Films are set to world premiere a new short film, My Father Belize, at the HollyShorts Film Festival in Hollywood California. Leon Lozano (Something Is Killing Tate) directed the film, which shot on location in Belize Central America, featuring a majority Belizean cast and crew.

Co-produced by Afanasieff, “Destiny” features an eighty-piece symphony orchestra conducted by Shardad Rohani (Yanni: Live at the Acropolis). Akram has assembled some of the industry’s best musicians and arrangers, including Steve Olive, ( guitar, bass and arrangement), Ramon Stagnaro (guitar), Joel Taylor, (drums), Navid Kandelousi (violin) and Ramon Yslas (percussion). The album was mixed by four-time Grammy winner Dave Reitzas at the iconic Westlake Studios in Hollywood. The album cover was designed by award-winning photographic artist Glen Wexler.

We were given a peek at the value of foreign-born workers to our local economy last year when the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) arrested dozens of undocumented immigrants in Glynn County, causing a chain reaction of labor shortages throughout the area as other immigrants, documented or not, failed to report to work for fear of arrest.
