Los Angeles- Sunday, April 7, 2018, the California African American Museum hosted and showcased the talents of a crew of amazing female artists.
Queens of the New Age: Festival of Extraordinary Women (est. 2015) is a growing creative collective and live music experience celebrating diverse female-identified producers, DJs, musicians, and multifaceted visual artists dedicated to education, empowerment, and creative expansion.
The inaugural Queens of the New Age: Festival of Extraordinary Women, provided the multi-cultural crowd of all ages an enjoyable afternoon of DJ sets, educational workshops, poetry, visual arts-by Aja Guy- (Eye Heart Art-art classes, parties and sip and paint events) and live music by a dynamic and powerful line-up of Los Angeles based musicians.
Girls Make Beats (GMB) Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that empowers girls by expanding the female presence of DJ’s, Music Producers, and Audio Engineers.
Founded in December 2012 by Avid Certified Engineer Tiffany Miranda. With programs in Miami and Los Angeles offering courses in Music Productions, DJ courses, Audio Engineering and Music Theory.
Girls Make Beats works with girls ages 8-17 and host educational seminars, summer camps, industry panels, and networking events. Girls Make Beats helps girls further their careers as music producers, DJ’s and audio engineers by providing courses offering on industry leading hardware and software and by offering internship at recording studios as well as Pro Tools Certifications. Girls Make Beats also serves as outlet for girls to unite and collaborate within the music industry. Visit for more information to register for upcoming courses.
The incredible musical line-up featured KING, LINOFORNIA, Ill Camille, Kona, Miss Jack Davey (DJ set), Amindi K. Fro$t, AKUA, Novena Carmel, Yazmin Monet Watkins, Alima Lee, Ro Wyldeflower, and Moni Vargas.
The Queens of the New Age: Festival of Extraordinary Women was presented in partnership with the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation.
California African American Museum is located in Exposition Park, which is home to a variety of museums and attractions. Galleries open Tuesdays-Saturdays 10:00am-5:00pm and Sundays 11:00am-5:00pm.
Parking is $12 (cash only) at 39th and Figueroa Streets. The Metro Expo line stop Expo Park/USC is a five-minute walk through the Rose Garden to the Museum.
