FESTIVAL’S THEME: This year’s Festival will focus on and celebrate music from Senegal, West Africa and the Democratic Republic Of The Congo. The Festival will also take a caesural moment to honor the vibrant music and life of African Music legend “Papa Wemba” one the world’s most influential creators of music.
ARTISTS PERFORMING: Opening the Festival performances will be Grammy Award winning Percussionist, djembe and sabar player/composer Magatte Fall from Senegal, West Africa. Celebrating his most recent works on the Award winning film Black Panther, his touring with world renowned Singer/Songwriter and Grammy Recipient, Angelique Kidjo and more recently his television appearance on The Jimmy Kimmel Show. The Hollywood African Music Festival is happy to welcome Magatte Fall & Max Percu to the line-up. The second half of the show will feature the troubadour Congolese band Balobi Bandeko featuring Chella Mputu direct from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Soukous dancer and choreographer Nkiru. Special Guests will participate in a “Papa Wemba ” tribute performance.
