NOVEMBER 2017, Gloria G Suazo a COFECA Director for Honduras and Treasurer, proclaimed the Central American Day and it was Approved by Council Member Gil Cedillo. This celebration is timely with President Donald Trump’s administration wanting to discontinue the TPS (Temporary Protected Status) for Nicaraguans, Hondurans and Salvadoreans. Nicaragua has no TPS, Honduras got a 6-month extension and el Salvador is unknown. Although this is temporary, Gloria asks why wait 20 years to discontinue it especially in view of the fact that these people have built roots here in the USA.
COFECA is the non-profit organization that produces the Central American Parade every year.
