Recognizing excellence in the Chinese community in North America, Mandarin-Leader (www.mandarin-leader.com) has named Chinese-American actress/producer Amy Shi as one of the organization’s prestigious honorees for 2018. Shi joins an esteemed list of honorees that includes politicians, diplomats, entrepreneurs, artists, philanthropists, restaurateurs and media.
“Nominated for her creativity, altruism, and leadership, Amy Shi has demonstrated ingenuity and a pioneering spirit on her journey in the United States, all while remaining true to her Chinese heritage. We’re delighted to name Amy as one of our 2018 honorees,” said John W. Robinson Jr., publisher, Mandarin Leader.
Published by Mandarin Communications Group, Mandarin Leader is considered the handbook for anyone interested in knowing “who’s who” within the Chinese community in North America. Each year, Mandarin Leader provides a curated list of individuals who have made an impact in their respective fields. The official 2018 issue launch will be at the China Fashion Gala in New York City on May 4th. Additional receptions are planned for Chicago on May 10, San Francisco on May 17, Los Angeles on June 7 and Washington, D.C. on June 10.

Recently, Shi represented Los Angeles in the annual Ms./Mrs. Corporate America Competition http://www.misscorporateamerica.com held in Orlando, Florida, where she was awarded The Spirit Award, promoting friendship and sportsmanship, presented by Pageantry Magazine.
Born in China’s Hunan Province, Amy was secretly raised by her grandmother in a small rural village far away from the city where her parents lived. She grew up liberated in spirit, inheriting the fearlessness of her grandmother from those early years.
Amy earned her BA in marketing and computer science, and an MBA. After graduation, she worked as a management consultant in Chicago. While living in Chicago, her path took a very different turn. She studied improv at the legendary Second City and attended acting classes, and soon was cast in several TV projects, including “Shameless,” “Chop-Chop Chicago,” “Chicago PD,” and films “Time Sentry: The Box” and “Ju-Yuki.”
Amy relocated to Los Angeles in 2016 and continued her stage work in the play “Wonder Women.” Her film work includes “Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance,” “Tales of Frankenstein,” “Street 2 Death Fight,” “The Man Deletes Everything,” “James Dilemma,” the award-winning film “Whisper,” and sci-fi short “Zalla,” in which she stars in the title role. She received the Best Lead Actress Award at the 2017 Canada Golden Maple Film Festival. She began producing movies since 2017 and is executive producer on “Zalla,” and co-producer on “Street 2 Death Fight.” She is the co-founder of Hollywood Dream Lab www.hollywooddreamlab.com, a company dedicated to promoting diversity in Hollywood productions.
Her corporate responsibilities have been in the banking and high tech sectors, working for such top companies as JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Apple Inc.
