A multidisciplinary installation of painting, wearable sculpture, and embedded personal artifacts opens March 28 at the West Hollywood gallery representing Warhol, Basquiat, and Koons.

Magazine, Entertainment

Baby Yors — the music project of Marco Palou — opens Americanos at Hamilton-Selway Fine Art, 8678 Melrose Avenue, West Hollywood. Opening reception: 5 to 7 PM.

About the Exhibition

What does it cost to become American? Not philosophically. Literally — in credit card debt, canceled accounts, collections calls, and immigration legal fees.

Americanos brings together six pairings of large vertical canvases and hand-crafted wearable jackets, each conceived as a single body split into image and garment. Constructed from canvas and painted with hand-applied symbols and color blocks, the jackets function as literal extensions of their corresponding paintings. Displayed on mannequins in denim jeans, they root the work in the visual language of American labor.

The Credit Cards

Embedded near the chest of each jacket is one of Marco’s real credit cards—cards that accrued debt, were canceled, sent to collections, or used to pay immigration legal fees. The actual instruments of his financial survival in the United States, now mounted on the body that carried them.

The jacket linings reveal song titles. An inward-facing American dream, hidden where only the wearer would see it. These garments have been worn throughout the Americano campaign and in the music videos that expanded the songs visually.

Each pairing corresponds to a track and video work from Americano Doble, Marco’s new album releasing March 27. Painting, sculpture, music, and moving image are the same work in different forms.

“These credit cards are the most honest things I own,” says Marco. “They tell the real story of what it costs to be here. I wanted them on the wall — or rather, on the body — because that’s where I carried them.”

The Gallery

Hamilton-Selway Fine Art represents Warhol, Basquiat, and Koons. The gallery’s decision to present Americanos marks a significant moment for an artist whose practice crosses every traditional boundary.

Americanos opens the same week as Americano Doble (March 27) and the Baby Yors Experience — a free Apple Vision Pro app making Baby Yors the first independent artist in the world to launch an Apple Vision Pro album experience. Three formats, one body of work.

Marco recently spoke on the main stage at SXSW 2026 on Art as Identity in a Jobless Future (March 13). He has been named by Out Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential LGBTQ+ People in the World and is a UN Ambassador.
