The Immigrant Magazine Joins in Honoring Top Journalists at the 2024 Ethnic Media Awards Ceremony
The 2024 Ethnic Media Awards ceremony, held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento on Wednesday, August 28, was a distinguished event honoring excellence in ethnic journalism. The Immigrant Magazine’s Founder and Managing Editor, Pamela Anchang, had the privilege of co-hosting the ceremony with Emil Guillermo—a renowned figure in stage, screen, and TV, and a respected author, journalist, and humorist.
The evening brought together around 250 esteemed guests, including ethnic media professionals, community leaders, communications experts, and government officials. The ceremony, set against the elegant backdrop of the Sheraton Grand Sacramento, celebrated exceptional journalism with a record 310 entries assessed by a panel of twenty-two judges. The submissions, which covered twelve languages, were evaluated across a wide range of categories including Outstanding Sports Coverage, The Struggle for Rights in California, Health and Health Care, Coming of Age in a Polarized Society, and California’s Culture of Diversity, which received the highest number of entries.
This prestigious event was co-hosted by Ethnic Media Services and California Black Media, marking the culmination of a two-day expo that began on Tuesday, August 27. The expo featured a roster of notable speakers and panelists, including California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, Assemblymember Buffy Wicks (D-14), Attorney General Rob Bonta, and State Treasurer Fiona Ma.
The Immigrant Magazine extends its warmest congratulations to all the nominees and winners. We are particularly honored to be recognized alongside six other exemplary media outlets that transcend cultural and linguistic barriers to deliver significant reporting on ethnic communities. This recognition underscores our ongoing commitment to celebrating and amplifying diverse voices within the media sphere.
