On Saturday, May 18, 2024, East Los Angeles College (ELAC), in partnership with Cinema Without Borders Foundation, the Consulate General of France in Los Angeles, L’Agence du Court Métrage, Villa Albertine Los Angeles, and Sony Classic Pictures, will host the ninth annual ELAC International Animation Day Festival, celebrating the art and innovation of French Animation. The event will take place at East Los Angeles College, located at 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, CA 91754.
French Animation Day will feature a 90-minute screening of short animated films from France, a panel discussion led by Patrick Mate, the French/American animator known for his work on “The Prince of Egypt,” and a tribute to award-winning French/Iranian filmmaker Marjane Satrapi, whose film “Persepolis” will be honored. During the event, Satrapi will receive Cinema Without Borders’ Honorary Bridging the Borders Award.
