ACCRA, GHANA—AFRICA’S BRAIN BANK® (ABB), a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to mobilizing Africa’s intellectual capital and global resources for sustainable development, will host its 7th Annual Summit & Charity Gala from September 3–8, 2026, in Accra, Ghana, culminating in the historic groundbreaking of Africa’s Medical City (AMC) in Ada, Greater Accra Region.

The summit will convene under the theme “Africa’s Greatest Wealth, Its People: Restoring Africa’s Health Capital,” with the sub-theme “Providing Affordable and Customized Health Care for All African Descendants.”

This transformative six-day gathering will bring together visionary leaders, innovators, industry experts, healthcare and business professionals, diplomats, researchers, academics, philanthropists, investors, and changemakers from across Africa and the African Diaspora. Together, participants will examine the critical challenges facing Africa’s healthcare systems, co-create sustainable solutions, advance health equity, strengthen education and innovation, promote economic empowerment, and celebrate the leaders and institutions driving Africa’s transformation.

Guided by AFRICA’s BRAIN BANK®’s organizational philosophy, “We Are One (WAO),” and its motto, “Collaboration, Development, Service,” the summit will confront the continued loss of African intellectual and professional talent—commonly known as brain drain—while advancing practical pathways for healthcare transformation, business development, investment, technology integration, knowledge exchange, and global collaboration.

At the heart of the gathering is a powerful conviction: Africa’s greatest resource is its people. By mobilizing the brilliance, expertise, resources, and goodwill of Africans and the African Diaspora worldwide, AFRICA’s BRAIN BANK® seeks to build the institutions, partnerships, and opportunities needed to restore Africa’s health capital and drive sustainable development across the continent.

“The question is no longer whether Africa has the talent to transform its future. The question is whether we are ready and willing to build the institutions, opportunities, and partnerships that allow that talent to thrive. This summit is about bringing the right people together to do exactly that.”

— HRH Rev. Dr. Pamela Fomunung, Visionary, CEO, and Group Chair of AFRICA’s BRAIN BANK® Global

A HISTORIC STEP TOWARD AFRICA’S HEALTHCARE FUTURE

A defining moment of the summit will be the official groundbreaking of Africa’s Medical City in Ada, Greater Accra Region, Ghana.

Envisioned as a transformative, AI-powered healthcare development, AMC is designed to build Africa’s health sovereignty; end the continent’s medical brain drain by creating sustainable opportunities for medical professionals; strengthen healthcare delivery; and advance innovation, research, and development while expanding access to quality healthcare services across Africa.

The broader vision is to position Africa as a global destination for medical excellence and medical tourism while creating healthcare systems and institutions that give African professionals meaningful opportunities to build, lead, innovate, and serve.

The Summit will also address persistent healthcare challenges, including fragile health systems, limited access to quality pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical shortages, counterfeit medicines, and gaps in professional healthcare delivery.

Participants will explore collaborative solutions that bring together healthcare providers, governments, investors, researchers, technology leaders, entrepreneurs, and communities. Artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, African-centered innovation, and cross-sector partnerships will all be part of the conversation as participants examine practical approaches to building healthcare systems that are more accessible, efficient, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of the global African community.
