Style Africa 2016, held annually, is scheduled for the 24th and 25th of June 2016 at the Fashion Theater, California Market Center in Los Angeles, CA. The event is produced by Africa Boku Talent, Inc., a 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to showcase and support African Creativity in music, dance, film, stage, fashion, cuisine, art and more. Visit www.africabokutalent.org or www.abtinc.org. This year’s event is being held to coincide with BET Experience and Awards weekend in Los Angeles, CA.

‘Boku’ is a derivative word from French used colloquially throughout the African Diaspora to mean ‘plenty’.

This year’s event will feature African Fashion exhibits, powered by Zuvaa.com, formal gala and awards, includes full course dinner featuring Ethiopian cuisine, a stage show of music, dance, acrobatics and live performance produced by George Makinto formally with Mariam Makeba band in tribute to African music legends. The night culminates with a live concert international music performer, Iyanya and DJ featuring modern African music, including Soukous dance contest.

Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success. In attendance were celebrities including singer/performer Michele Williams (Destiny’s child), actor/philanthropist Isaiah Washington, model/philanthropist Selita Ebanks (Sports Illustrated swim suit cover-girl), Bolanle Austen-Peters, Terra Kulture founder and Nigerian celebrity. Popular African fashion designer Korto Mormolu headed the fashion runway with 8 other designers.

We welcome KCAL TV’s support in showcasing and supporting African creativity; a time proven, previously underrated emancipation vehicle for Africans everywhere. Over 1500 people are expected to attend.
