A GUIDE FOR NEW IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA

"There Can Be No Vision Without Provision"

It has been almost three years since the first edition of The Immigrant Magazine and every edition seems like a new beginning. It seems to me that we get a chance everyday to start all over. In the past couple of years I have had to sometimes question myself about not just my future but also the future of us all as immigrants. Just when it seems bleak I realize that immigrants are imbued with resilience. No matter how challenging the road I am thankful for the experience. We can only learn through our mistakes and of course we cannot make mistakes when we do nothing. The most important thing to me is that I get to share some of the things I learn as I go along this immigrant journey.

The stories of immigrants we bring to you should inspire you to do something special for yourself and to leave something for the next generation. We all left our homelands for a purpose. Whatever that purpose may be it is very much attainable. It is however up to each individual to find out what that purpose is. Everyone has a story to tell about his or her immigrant journey. As you read through the pages of this edition notice the roads traveled by our fellow immigrant brothers and sisters. One message is for sure, there can be no vision without provision. Obstacles come in many formats i.e. family, friends, hardship or just lack of belief in oneself. I t is important to keep stay focused on the goal.

As serious as life may seem it is important to enjoy the pleasures of life. I invite you to explore all the fun activities mentioned in the magazine either as Ads or our "What's fun in LA" column and of course the best places to eat. It takes time to put together a magazine but I most certainly realize that all what I do is nothing without the fun things to go with it. We must remember that we are all just whiling time and have no clue what lies ahead.

I n conclusion I would like to invite you to visit our photo gallery where you can experience the beauty of our diversity.
My wish is that we all follow our dreams. Whatever you think you can do, please do it. Make a move from thought to action. July-August, 07

Best,
