Hollywood, CA – On March 13th, 2015 carnival lovers from all over the world witnessed the highly anticipated 4th Annual “Official Band Launch of Hollywood Carnival 2015”. This sold out gala was the ideal setting for the first ever, official crowning of “Miss Hollywood Carnival 2015”. This premiere cultural event took place at Ebanos Crossing in Downtown Los Angeles, hosted by the Los Angeles Culture Festival™ and attended by several high profile dignitaries including press and media.
In an effort to bring a contemporary twist to their unique evolution of the carnival experience, the Los Angeles Culture Festival™ crowned Jonia McClenney as “Hollywood Carnival Queen 2015”. Jonia has held multiple titles throughout her professional dancing career including the Sambala Samba School “Rainha da Bateria” (Queen of the Drums), a title that she proudly held for four consecutive years. She was also chosen as “Santa Barbara Carnival Queen 2014”, but this year has brought her greatest accomplishment as she now holds the crown as the first ever “Hollywood Carnival Queen 2015”.
Jonia is thrilled to represent the soul of Brazilian carnival on the streets of Hollywood Blvd, but even more so, to be representing over 40 different countries that will come together in the spirit of culture and celebration to be a part of the Hollywood Carnival Parade on June 27th, 2015.
