The Immigrant Magazine is a web-based and bi-monthly print publication focused on celebrating the contributions of immigrants to the American society as well as exploring their lifestyles and experiences. For the American immigrant looking for rich information source filled with useful, provocative, and relevant information, “The Immigrant” answers that need. The editorial content covers such topics as Immigration, education, health, career, entertainment, travel, family concerns as well as fashion, beauty and culture, profiles of immigrant achievers and celebrities. The publication’s editors and staff are seeking writers and student journalists seeking exposure to jumpstart their careers and possibly pursue a long-term relationship with this new publication. The Immigrant Magazine does not provide monetary compensation at this time but great opportunity for writers seeking experience, exposure and possibility for academic credit with approval from university.
Job Qualifications
All interns requesting college credit must receive verification of such credit prior to start of the internship. The internship is non-paying and is limited to the course of the school semester or quarter. Scheduling is very flexible: The Immigrant Magazine Inc. will accommodate the students’ school calendar. Students may intern any time during their college career, i.e., we accept freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors as well as graduate students. Students should possess an active interest in entertainment, culture, sports, and diversity, be proficient in MS Word, and be confident on a fast-paced office environment. Interested candidates are required to send as attachment in MS word (.doc) a sample writing in their area of interest to publisher@immigrantmagazine.com.
Job Description
An internship at The Immigrant Magazine Inc.is intended to provide a true learning experience for the student along with the opportunity to experience communications professionals in a business environment. It will provide familiarity with the communications field and with the functions of a journalist. Our program enables students to develop marketable skills in a real life professional environment. Interns assist our magazine with day-to-day duties including interviews, and feature stories.
