"If I should have a daughter, instead of Mom, she's gonna call me Point B ... " began spoken word poet Sarah Kay, in a talk that inspired two standing ovations at TED2011. She tells the story of her metamorphosis -- from a wide-eyed teenager soaking in verse at New York's Bowery Poetry Club to a teacher connecting kids with the power of self-expression through Project V.O.I.C.E. -- and gives two breathtaking performances of "B" and "Hiroshima."
We become impatient, irritable and may even sabotage our success by acting impulsively. Why? Because, we want what we want when we want it. And quite frankly we are used to getting things we want. We are very competent and capable and know how to get things done. We are great Human DOings!!! But this one area of our life: Career, Relationship, Body seems to be taking longer than expected. The more we squeeze the vice grip of control, manipulate and conspire to force the square peg into the round whole the more we feel the resistance and push back. So, we try another angle and still nothing. Then finally in sheer frustration we decide to stop trying. If our way is not working then maybe this Job opportunity, Relationship, or Body weight is not for us. But, we really WANT it, really, really bad. So, we take back control and then again like the definition of insanity we do the same thing and get the same pathetic results.

Maimah Karmo is living again. That’s something the 35-year-old Liberian native didn’t think she’d be doing much of following her discovery over three years ago that she had breast cancer. Young, vibrant and strikingly beautiful, Karmo appeared on the outside to be a perfect picture of health. A trip to the doctor’s office in February, 2006, threw that assumption right out of the window when she was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. Karmo didn’t feel like fighting. She wanted to give up. She was hanging on to life by a mere thread.
Understanding the myths about leadership In a recent meeting between two leadership organizations, a huge rift between theory and behavior was identified. One organization was a university leadership group. In theory, we all understand that leaders work together to create a better future. Yet, the meeting clearly identified the lack of relationship between “leaders†of [...]
Are you focused on just getting by paying the bills or do you want to be abundant? Do you feel like you are working very hard and not seeing the results you expected? During the times when you are missing you family, traditions and customs you can use the power of Synergy to stay connected, inspired and motivated to create a Passionate, Purposeful and Prosperous life.
