Every five years, the government agencies that are charged with health and nutrition publish a set of guidelines that provide information about food, nutrition and healthy eating. These are called the Dietary Guidelines. These guidelines are published by a committee of experts established by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
