9TH ANNUAL INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF LOS ANGELES (IFFLA) ANNOUNCES 2011 FEST DATES AND CALL FOR ENTRIES

HOLLYWOOD, CA, September 2, 2010 – The 9th Annual Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA) announced its Call for Entries today. The festival will be held April 12-17, 2011 at ArcLight Hollywood, the premier cinema in Los Angeles.

Early deadline includes reduced fees for all film submissions is November 12, 2010. The final deadline is January 7, 2011. IFFLA 2011 seeks narrative, documentary, music videos, experimental, children’s and animated films of any length and format. Jury and Audience Choice Prizes are awarded for Best Feature, Documentary and Short film.

IFFLA 2010 welcomed over 7,500 attendees and screened almost 40 films from India and across the globe. Along with the state-of-the-art presentation of their work, through IFFLA attending filmmakers were able to connect with highly-respected entertainment executives from the Los Angeles film and Indian film industries.

The 2010 Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles featured the Opening Night Gala presentation of Dilip Mehta’s COOKING WITH STELLA starring Seema Biswas and Lisa Ray on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 and ended with the IFFLA Closing Night Gala presentation of THE WAITING CITY starring Radha Mitchell and Samrat Chakrabarti on Sunday, April 25th.

Other highlights included the presentation of the 2010 IFFLA Industry Leadership Awards to Sanford Panitch, President of Fox International Productions and Uday Shankar, CEO of Star India, while Ashok Amritraj, CEO of Hyde Park Entertainment, received the IFFLA Trailblazer Award at a ceremony that took place on at Hollywood’s House of Blues. The fest also included musical performances at the IFFLA Rhythm Village (located in the ArcLight Hollywood Courtyard) presented by Rukus Avenue.

Previous films presented by IFFLA include THE WELL (Umesh Kulkarni), 3 IDIOTS (Rajkumar Hirani), THE WAITING CITY (Claire McCarthy), SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE (Danny Boyle), FIRAAQ (Nandita Das), SITA SINGS THE BLUES (Nina Paley), QUICK GUN MURUGAN (Shashank Ghosh), AMAL (Richie Mehta), FROZEN (Shivajee Chandrabhushan), OMKARA and MAQBOOL (Vishal Bhardwaj), WATER (Deepa Mehta), LOINS OF PUNJAB PRESENTS (Manish Acharya), DOMBIVLI FAST (Nishikant Kamat), VANAJA (Rajnesh Domalpalli), and BLACK FRIDAY (Anurag Kashyap), OUTSOURCED (John Jeffcoat) among others.
