The 7th Annual Santa Barbara Brazilian “Carnaval Cultural” is unique in it’s format of promoting the Brazilian culture by integrating art and education, as well as the element of ecological and social concerns. The Brazilian Carnaval Cultural will bring a weekend extravaganza with three events and the exposure of Brazilian Culture in Santa Barbara County through popular art, cinema, lectures, dance and music.

The Annual Santa Barbara Brazilian Carnaval Cultural is produced by Brazilian journalist Lindenberg Junior and presented by Contemporanea Percussion Instruments of Brazil and Univision TV Central Coast Channel 38 and associates. Other sponsors includes Cachaca Cabana, Fernandos Photo and Video, O.N.E 100% Juices from Brasil, Magali Travel Services. Community partners includes Los Angeles Film Festival, SB Permaculture Networking and Solstice Parade organization. When & Where:

Fri Feb 19th, 7pm at Santa Barbara Public Central Library/ Faulkner Gallery, the film screening of “Foliar Brasil” (Celebration Brazil) and lectures from Hanna Jacobs (UCSB) and Meire Fernandes (Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival). The SB Central Library is located at Anapamu St. between Anacapa & State Street in Downtown Santa Barbara.

Sat Feb 20th, 9pm at So-Ho Club & Restaurant, the “Carnaval Bowl Fiesta” featuring Live Brazilian Music, by Afro-Brazilian Band “Mariano Silva & Prakantar”, Rio Style Batucada by “Nos do Gheto, capoeira moves by Capoeira Batuque SB and dance performances by Raiz Brazil Dance Company from Los Angeles, plus Art Expo by Brazilian artists.

Sunday Feb 21st, 1:30 at Timbers Supper Club in Goleta, the Brazilian Culture Family Carnaval featuring an amazing performance by Campbell Hall High School (L.A) 12 piece Samba Ensemble, Samba Feather dancers, Afro Brazilian show , an audio-visual experience on screen showing Rio de Janeiro Samba School parade, Brazilian Culinary Delights and an early special “Street Soccer Goal Competition” for kids (outside – prizes for the winners!).
